Two weeks without an update, tsk. I’ve been out of town, which is very stressful on me, most likely unnecessarily so. We did a quick fly-by of KC, then off to Chicago for Doni’s office Christmas party. Eh we had fun, it was just tough to try and squeeze everything in. I took a lot of pictures, but going back through them it looks like they were all of food. I guess I was a little excited to get some good cuisine. I’ll post them anyway, because I’m not inclined to detail seven whole days of travel.
- Deep dish pizza at Gino’s East, downtown Chicago
- Lamb hash with a duck egg, at The Farmhouse in downtown KC
- Burnt ends from Smokehouse at Doni’s parents
- Two of the three briskets we cooked up at Martin’s
- Probably shouldn’t have used Martin’s bath towels to insulate the cooker, I don’t think that smoke is coming out. Oh well, they’ll smell good.
- Full smoker is a happy smoker. Three briskets and two pork butts.
- In case 65 lbs of brisket & pork wasn’t enough, we threw on two slabs of ribs
- Playing jenga in Martin’s garage while we cooked
- Calamari at Capitol Grille in Chicago, our favorite
- Fine lamb chops at “place I can’t remember” in Chicago
