I do enjoy a good holiday weekend.  It also happened that I was on-call, which, while lending a slight distraction to the holiday, also provides me with a 3-day weekend coming up also.  Good times!  Anyway, as far as this weekend went, I sort of took it easy and laid low.  Always a good strategy while waiting to get paged.  We did have some friends come down from Nebraska, which provided a good bit of entertainment Saturday.  They rolled into town around lunch time, and we met up down at the Brooksider to watch the Huskers game.  I’d misjudged the crowd a bit (forgot about those nutty Iowa State fans and their watch parties down there) but we were able to get a few TV’s tuned in.

Sunday morning we met them for some breakfast, then they were off to Nebraska and we were off to the couch.  Other than a few hours spent at the dog park Monday I just didn’t do a whole heck of a lot the rest of the weekend.  Watched a LOT of movies, none of them worth mentioning.  Suffered through the Royals a few times.  Loitered at Costco a while.  And…  That’s about it.  My main plan for the actual holiday afternoon was smoking a few slabs of baby-backs;  Instead I ended up eating a basket of cheesy ‘tater tots at the Brooksider.  Motivation was lacking a bit.
